Dial Back Dental Anxiety

Dental-anxiety

Feeling anxious? Skip the sugar and caffeine before your visit.

As dentists, it’s our job to make sure that your teeth remain healthy. And guess what? We love every second of helping you achieve the best in oral health. But what you might not know is that many patients just like yourself can feel anxious about coming in for a cleaning or treatment.

If that sounds familiar, we’d like to share a few different techniques that may help curb dental anxiety.

1. Let Us Know

Feeling stressed about visiting us? Even though we aim to make each visit comfortable, there are extra measures we can take to ensure your relaxation—all you need to do is tell us about your apprehension or experiences with other dentists.

2. Focus On Breathing

During a visit, focus on breathing regularly and slowly during your treatment. When our patients are nervous, they tend to hold their breath, decreasing oxygen and furthering any feelings of anxiety.

3. Skip the Sugar

Before your visit with us, consider eating a high protein meal. Unlike sugar, protein can have a calming effect.

4. Pick a Low-Stress Time

When it comes to making your appointment, try to choose a time slot that won’t make you feel rushed. For some, this may mean an early morning appointment.

We Make Smiling Easy

Our practice doesn’t just want you to have a beautiful, healthy smile, but to feel good about caring for your teeth, too. We believe that setting clear communication for treatments helps to make our patients feel more comfortable, where we view each visit as a partnership with you instead of a one-way street.
