How To Cure Bad Breath And Rule The World

A Bad Breath Love Story

Man with box over head

Confession. I’m Jack. Yep, there you have it. I’m guessing that I’m not the only man in Perth with a story like this. While this is a slightly embarrassing topic, I’ve decided to come clean with my bad breath story.

Life was busy and I became complacent – days tick by, work never ends, relationship on the rocks, and my health and fitness fell off the radar. So when the inevitable separation happened and I was ready to enter the dating scene, I wasn’t exactly the confident guy from my early 20s.

I also had an embarrassing problem–when I was working closely with women, I was always paranoid that my breath was bad. I ate mints all day but I knew that if I was going to actually go on a date, I needed to fix this ASAP. I tried EVERYTHING I could find on the internet and here’s what worked.

3 Steps That Helped My Bad Breath And One Thing That Cured It

Step 1: Trade Mints For Gum

Turns out bad breath causing bacteria thrives with sugar. Mints are pure sugar. Popping mints all day long was clearly making my situation worse. I switched to sugar-free gum which stimulates saliva and helped to clean my mouth instead.

Step 2: Scrape The Tongue

Why didn’t I think of this sooner?! It seems so obvious now. Try it – you’ll be surprised at how much is on your tongue! I thought for sure I’d found my cure with this step, but even with daily scraping I was still keeping my distance during work meetings.

Step 3: Flossing

I’ve always been an avid brusher but I’ll admit, I’m a bit slack with flossing. Introducing a flossing routine did help my breath, but mostly it eliminated the guilt I felt for not flossing!

The Cure

So, here I am, I’ve tried it all. Time to do the #1 thing I’ve been putting off – a visit to the dentist.

In hindsight, I don’t know why I was putting it off. I should have taken this step first. Turns out, skipping the flossing was not a good idea. I was diagnosed with gum disease. Working with my dentist I was able to uncover the root cause of my embarrassing problem but more importantly, I’ve dealt with this now before it progressed into a far worse health problem.

Three Years Later…

I felt my confidence return and even got a promotion at work. The dating app helped me find an amazing woman named Cindy –we’ve been together for over two years. And you aren’t going to believe this – she’s a dental hygienist!
